Paladin Match

The Paladin program is a basic defensive handgun program that instructs the participant in handling and use of the firearm from method of carry to/through exercises using mock situations, cover, concealment or open encounters.

The program is not a timed match with 1st, 2nd or 3rd place awards.  The shooter will be scored on each target in the scenario and that decides if the shooter lived through the episode.  Critiques giving explanation and instruction will also be given during the scenarios and drills when needed.

Drills are used to evaluate presentation and gun handling and are usually fairly simple and quick.  Drills will be limited to the number of shots fired at the targets and will be scored.

Scenarios will not limit the number of shots per target as the shooter needs to neutralize the target to stop the threat.  The shooter needs to score a total of 7 points to neutralize the target.  The center of mass is 5 points, the area outside that is 2 points, the edge is 1 point and the head is 7 points.  Other penalties will be explained during the walk though before the program starts.

Use the method of carry you do in the real world.  The method must hold the firearm securely with ability to get to it and present it in a timely manner.  Use the firearm you carry or one that is of similar size and function.  The firearm should be concealed and used from concealment unless otherwise specified by the program director.

Pima Pistol Club is a “Cold” range.  No firearm should be loaded until the shooter is told to do so at the firing line. At the end of the scenario or drill the shooter will be asked to clear the weapon and show empty and holster.  Other range safety rules will be explained during walk through.
